Posted on 19th Oct 2017

Mitch was born with Cerebral Palsy and can’t stand or walk unaided. Despite this Mitch and his family rode the 16km river course at the 2017 Spring Cycle because as dad

Scott says, ‘the 10kms isn’t enough of a challenge!’

Mitchel came to Freedom Wheels in 2006 and received his first bike on his 3rd birthday. He instantly loved it, this was the first time he could move any distance. Since then Mitch, now 14, has graduated through a series of well-loved Freedom Wheels bikes. His recent bike is a custom trike made by Fred, one of our volunteers.

At 8 years old, Mitch joined the Southern Cross Cycling Club in Sutherland who gifted him an odometer which is about to tick over to a total 6,000km! Mitch has ridden his bikes in junior cycling races at Mt Panorama, Goulburn and Sydney.

The Olsen family all bought bikes and enjoy long family outings cycling together. Together they have ridden it all over Sydney, Canberra, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, the south and central coasts and the central west.

Well done Mitch!
