Meet Marta

Marta is a bright and energetic 52-year-old who enjoys craftwork and knitting.

A decade ago, Marta suffered a major stroke which resulted in expressive dysphasia, right side deficits and poor balance and concentration.

Paul, her husband, and Marta made it their mission to find a solution that would ensure Marta can keep active, get outside and still enjoy the things that she loved to do. Marta had her old bike with training wheels, but it wasn’t safe and comfortable for her. Paul and Marta explored their options through Google to see what they could find and consulted with her Occupational Therapist. Fortunately, her Occupational Therapist found TAD’s Freedom Wheels service online which included a range of adult bikes suitable for people with disabilities and reduced mobility.

Marta’s Occupational Therapist contacted TAD and organised an assessment with TAD’s Occupational Therapist, where Marta was able to trial the adult bike range with the goal of finding a cycling option that offers speed and support.  She found exactly that in the Body Cycle’s Electric Tricycle. “I wanted something a bit more exciting, so it was definitely the one for me,” said Marta.

Both Paul and Marta were so pleased with their experience, adding that it was a smooth process with TAD and the NDIS. “We had no trouble at all!” said Paul.

TAD’s help has left a huge impact on Marta. “I’m so happy,” said Marta.

“Marta has freedom. I was so excited to see her riding again. Before she started riding and training, she was always in bed but now she’s active, physical and happy,” said Paul.

With Marta’s new love for her bike, she can now go on rides with her husband down to the local park or shops, spending more quality time together.

Marta and Paul love the new electric trike and appreciate the help they received from TAD. “We get some many referrals from people on the street about Marta’s trike. We will always recommend TAD.”
